Community Scientists

Get to Know your Community

What is a Scientist? A scientist is someone who answers questions made from observations. Observations are not made only using our eyes, we make observations with all of our senses: sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch.

Our question is how diverse is life in our area? The majority of our collection is from decades ago, and we know the environment is constantly changing, so we want to see how it’s grown. Not only do we have an amazing physical collection in the museum, but we are working on a digital collection as well.

Be a Community Scientist

Help us build our digital museum. As you are out enjoying nature in Washington County, please take pictures of the different life forms you encounter.

What are we looking for? Amphibians, arachnids, birds, crustaceans, fungi, insects, plants, reptiles, fish, and mammals. If it’s alive, we want to see it!

*NOTE* We also accept submissions from surrounding counties in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona as long as they meet the submission requirements that appear to the right.
